We carried a global church convening to the world in 4K, in every language in the room.

The lesson is durable — when local infrastructure is uncertain, a producer-led plan still lets a worldwide audience attend as one.
The Global Methodist Church called its 2024 Convening General Conference in Costa Rica, gathering delegates and a watching membership spread across the globe. A meeting of this weight cannot be a room that only the people inside it experience — it has to reach everyone the decisions touch, wherever they are.
That set two non-negotiables. The broadcast had to be genuinely international, which means multilingual: the people watching from another continent needed to follow along in their own language, not just hear a feed they couldn’t parse. And it had to be multi-site, covering the main stage and the breakout sessions where much of the real work happens.
The complication was the ground itself. Local infrastructure carried real challenges, and an international venue rarely hands you the clean, redundant connectivity a broadcast of this scale assumes. The plan had to absorb that, not be surprised by it.
Space City Pro delivered the production end to end. We ran the event in 4K live streaming so the picture held up for a global audience, and we built coverage across the venue — main sessions and breakout rooms — so the full program reached people watching from home rather than just the headline moments.
Accessibility was the heart of it. We provided real-time audio translation and real-time caption translation, so attendees around the world could follow the proceedings as they happened, in language. That is the difference between broadcasting at an audience and actually convening one.
We also built and ran a custom streaming platform to host it all, rather than forcing the conference onto an off-the-shelf player that didn’t fit. The platform gave the church a single, controlled home for the live experience — and our team engineered around the local infrastructure constraints so the production stayed up.
Despite the infrastructure challenges on the ground, the event launched seamlessly. The opening went off without the scramble that uncertain connectivity usually invites, and the program ran as a single, coherent broadcast across sites.
Most importantly, it united a global audience. Through real-time translation and captioning, members who could never have traveled to Costa Rica were able to participate in their own language — present for a convening that was, by definition, about the whole church.
We’re not going to hand you attendance or engagement numbers we don’t have. What this project demonstrates is plainer and more useful: end-to-end, producer-led broadcast that holds up internationally, makes the room accessible in multiple languages, and stays standing when the local infrastructure won’t cooperate.
