Event production at Marriott Marquis Houston.

The Marriott Marquis is the 1,000-room flagship Marriott built in 2016 at 1777 Walker, across Discovery Green from the GRB and connected to the downtown tunnel system. The Texas Ballroom and Dallas Ballroom are our defaults for 800–1,500-attendee corporate summits and benefit galas. The rooftop deck, Texas-shaped lazy river and downtown skyline behind it, is where the night ends.

Location & access

Downtown, across from Discovery Green.

Opened 2016 across Discovery Green from the GRB, with the Texas-shaped lazy-river deck on the roof where we close a lot of receptions on the skyline. Freight is on Walker, shared with the adjacent hotel tower; service-elevator hold is scheduled with hotel ops the day the contract signs. Skybridge to the GRB on the sixth-floor concourse.

What we know about the room

Texas Ballroom, Dallas Ballroom, Houston Ballroom, and the rooftop deck.

Every room below is a room we have loaded into. The notes are operational (ceilings, freight cycles, unions, dock doors), not brochure copy. The producer who shows up to the site walk is the same one who calls the show on the night.

  • Texas Ballroom Roughly 30,000 square feet; seats ~2,000 theater or ~1,200 banquet. Ceiling takes flown LED without venue engineering for most summits. Our default for flagship 1,200-plus keynotes in the Marquis.
  • Dallas Ballroom Mid-size and divisible. Lands clean for 400-700 banquet, paddle-raise galas, or launch receptions that pre-flow into the rooftop deck two floors up. We have used it as a parallel breakout for Texas Ballroom keynotes.
  • Rooftop deck The Texas-shaped lazy river is the postcard; Walker Street Kitchen is the bar; the skyline view closes the night. Receptions and branded cocktail events run here on a weather-contingency plan we pre-scope at site walk. A Houston rooftop is never a sure thing; we pre-scope the indoor fallback room and a go/no-go call time before we ever confirm the deck.
  • Meeting rooms Mid-size break-out rooms across the conference levels. Strong fit for parallel breakout tracks, shared hallway carries sound and RF, so we coordinate frequencies before the first cue.
  • Load-in Loading dock shared with the adjacent hotel tower. Service-elevator hold has to be scheduled with hotel ops, we book it the day the contract signs and own the timetable from there.
  • Broadcast & hybrid House fiber clears typical hybrid broadcast. For mission-critical streams we layer bonded cellular every time. The house stagehand call covers the floor, paperwork clears in hours, not days.
Bringing your own production partner here

Bringing your own partner to the Marquis is normal. Scoping it early is the trick.

The Marquis, like its downtown hotel peers, runs an in-house AV partner for turnkey meetings, and outside production teams are a routine sight on flagship programs. House terms typically involve advance notice, property-named documentation, and house-managed access for rigging points and supplemental power, with a facilities charge in some configurations. The real currency here is the service-elevator hold and the dock window.

We book the elevator hold the day the contract signs and walk the power plan with hotel ops before the drawing package goes final, so the venue-side line items are known before your master account is. Flown loads clear through the venue’s rigging process with the house stagehands on the floor. Full patterns in our Houston venue load-in notes.

" They really took things to the next level. I can’t recommend these guys enough.
